This Race Has Been Cancelled

Reason:

As everyone is aware the rapidly developing issue of Covid-19 virus is of major concern right now.
Running events by their nature see large numbers of people in close contact (particularly at the start/finish lines) and we as organisers have a responsibility to protect our runners and those they come into contact with in the community.
With this in mind we have decided to cancel our next 2 races the Glenarm Castle Challenge and Shanes Castle Challenge for 2020. We did consider postponing them ‘til later in the year but with so many other races rescheduling we feel that there will be too many race clashes so the best thing was to cancel them outright.
For those of you who have already entered we will contact you directly in the coming days to make alternative arrangements.
We hope you understand that this is the correct action to take in these unprecedented circumstances and we urge you to stay safe, keep your distance and wash your hands.

Following the success of RUN FOR ROSCOR last year at Shanes Castle BORN2RUN EVENTS have added this beautiful location to their race calendar again this year, renamed as “Shane’s Castle Challenge” with the addition of a Half Marathan to the 10K Race and Walk and 5K race.

All distances will take place entirely within the grounds of Shanes Castle estate which is made up of 1,000 acres of woodland on the shores of Lough Neagh. The estate dates back to the 16th century and runners are guaranteed beautiful views all along the routes which are relatively flat!

Entry Fees
Online Registration (before 11pm on Wednesday 13th May 2020) and for option of posting out race pack (before 11pm Wednesday 6th May 2020).

Half Marathon (minimum age 17) 

£26 Early Bird offer until 11pm on 15/04/2020 and £28 thereafter.

10K Race/Walk (minimum age 15):

£20 Early Bird offer until 11pm on 15/04/20 and £22 thereafter.

£13 Junior Early Bird offer until 11pm on 15/04/20 and £15 thereafter (junior rate applies to runners aged 15-17 years)

5K Race (minimum age 11): 

£20 Early Bird offer until 11pm on 15/04/20 and £22 thereafter.

£13 Junior Early Bird offer until 11pm on 15/04/20 and £15 thereafter (junior rate applies to runners aged 11-17 years)

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A PROCESSING FEE ADDED TO ENTRY FEE AT THE POINT OF ONLINE REGISTRATION

All distances: (Plus £3 if postal option chosen NI & £4 ROI).

Registration Confirmation
Confirmation of your race entry will be sent to you automatically via email from Primo Events after your payment is made. If you choose the option to have your Race Pack posted out to you before the day then this should arrive with you no later than the Wednesday prior to race day. Otherwise your race number and chip timing will be given to you at Registration on the morning of the race. Any Merchandise ordered at time of entry will be available for collection on Race Day at the Merchandise Desk in the Registration Hall.  A Final Race Day Information email will be sent to all registered participants on the Thursday of race week, please check your junk mail in case it lands there.

Terms & Conditions
By entering the race you will be bound by the event disclaimer which you agreed to at time of registration.  Refunds are not available once entry has been completed. You are however permitted to transfer your entry to a family member/friend by accessing the 'Manage my Registration' portal through the link at the bottom of your Primo Events receipt email. This link and the transfer option will only be available until 23:59 on 5th June 2019. (Transfer of entry to another event is not available). Race Start Times

Half Marathon: 11.00am

10K WALK: 11.30am

10K Race: 12.00 noon 

5K Race: Approx 12.10am

Event Registration
Registration packs can be collected on race day at the Pavillion building close to the Castle where refreshments will also be served after the race, and will be clearly signposted on the day. We will have Race Safety Instructions available in print at Registration for anyone that wishes to read them.  They will also be announced at the start line before the race commences.

Registration Times
Saturday 16th May 2020: 

Half Marathon, 10K & 5K: 9.00am – 10.45am

Parking
Parking will be in the estate grounds and clearly signposted on race day.  Please car share where possible and follow the marshals' instructions.   

Start/Finish Area

The start/finish will be close to the Castle and Registration, where the inflatable BORN2RUN arch can be found.  

Pets
Strictly no pets allowed.

Water Stations

Half Marathon: TBA 

10K: Approx at 5K mark

Toilets

Toilets are available close to the start/finish line.

Post Race Refreshments
Hydration station at finish line.  Complimentary Post Race Refreshments will be served following the race.  

Prizegiving – 1.15pm

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female Finishers in the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Races only. Please note Walkers will not be chip timed.

Footwear
The course is mainly off road and running shoes are suitable for all the terrain, however if the weather has been particularly wet prior to the race trail shoes may be advisable.
