CASTLEWELLAN

The Castlewellan 5K/10K is the 6th and final race in this year’s Run Forest Run Series. The atmosphere will be buzzing at this last race when everyone that has completed 5 out of 6 races will receive their FREE Forest Finisher T-shirt and bonus Medal for those who have completed all 6 races.

The race starts and finishes in the shadow of the Majestic lakeside castle. Runners will enjoy fantastic views of the Mourne Mountains and one of the world’s largest permanent Mazes. (Only 30 minutes drive from Newry.)

Due to the off-road nature of the race route please note distances may vary slightly.

This avails of our early bird discounted offer for all six races (plus postage). To enter all six races on one registration CLICK HERE.

Runners who complete 5 out of 6 races will receive a commemorative t-shirt (NEW DESIGN TBC). Runners who complete all 6 races will receive a bonus medal at the Race Finale in Castlewellan on Saturday 17th February 2023.

 

Online before 11pm on 7th February 2024 as ALL RACE PACKS WILL BE POSTED to participants. PLEASE NOTE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION YOU WILL NEED TO CHOOSE EITHER NI (£3) OR Rep of Ireland (£4) POSTAL OPTION.

5K & 10K RACE: £25
Early Bird offer of £23 if you register before 11pm on Wednesday 13th December 2023.

JUNIOR 5K RACE: £18 (junior rate applies to runners aged 11-17 years)

JUNIOR 10K RACE: £18 (junior rate applies to runners aged 15-17 years)

What are the start times for each race?
11.00am (The 5K will start shortly after the 10K race). Race start times subject to change dependant on current Government Covid Guidelines. Start / finish area will be on the grass area close to the Wardens Hut opposite the Cafe.

Can I register for the event on the day?
No, the Winter Series is online entry only-there will be a limited Registration service on Race Day and will be for the collection of merchandise purchased online and any race queries. Registration will be located in the hall at the Courtyard beside the main car park and will be clearly signposted on race day. 

What time is the event registration?
Not applicable at this event as all Race Bibs will be posted prior to the event so runners will be ready to head straight to the start line.  Your Race Bib should arrive with you no later than Thursdaysday 15th February 2024. If your pack has not arrived by this date please advise us by email (info@born2runevents.com) so we can arrange a replacement. Please allow plenty of time to reach the event venue. 

When will I receive my registration confirmation?  
Confirmation of your race entry will be sent to you automatically via email from Enthuse Events after your payment is made. All race packs will be posted out to participants on Friday 9th February 2024. Any Merchandise ordered at time of entry will be available for collection on Race Day at the Merchandise Desk in the Registration Hall. A Final Race Day Information email, which will include up to date social distances measures to ensure the safe running of the event, will be sent to all registered participants on Thursday 16th February 2023, please check your junk mail in case it lands there.

If I can’t run can I get a refund or defer my race entry? 
By entering the race you will be bound by the event disclaimer which you agreed to at time of registration. Refunds or transfer of entry to another event are not available once entry has been completed. You are however permitted to transfer your entry to a family member/friend by emailing: info@born2runevents.com.  Full Terms & Conditions are available to view at time of entry on the Enthuse Events Registration website.


What are the parking facitities at this event?
There is a £5 parking fee for runners using the main car park, please follow marshals instructions on the day and car share where possible.

Free parking is available outside the Forest Park and it’s a short walk/jog into the park (approx. 1K from the town square).

What time is the prizegiving?
Prize giving will be at 12.30pm. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female. Run Forest Run overall Series Winners and Series Category Winners will also be awarded. If you completed all 6 races you will receive a bonus medal at the finish line. 

What does my entry fee include?
• A Run Forest Run Medal
• Individual chip timing
• Race Number
• Complimentary post race refreshments

Are pets allowed?
Sorry, no pets allowed.

Will there be water stations?
As this is a Winter race there will be no water station so please carry water with you if required.

Where are the toilets/shower facilities located?
Toilet facilities are available in the main car park toilet block and in the Courtyard beside Registration. Showers are also available at the Life Building.

What footwear should I bring?
Regular running shoes are suitable for all the terrain on the 5K &10K route.

 

Can I run with a buggy?
Due to the nature of this course, for health and safety purposes, it is not suitable for buggies.
