We are pleased to announce the return of the Award Winning BORN 2 RUN EVENTS’ – ACTI-SNACK RUN FOREST RUN WINTER RACE SERIES.
Runners will have the choice of two distances, 5K or 10K. Both races will start and finish on the fantastic state-of-the art Mary Peters Track, home of Northern Ireland Athletics. The route covers, track, forest trail, country road, taking you through National Trust property at Minnowburn and back along the banks of the Lagan.
Close to the city yet in the heart of the countryside – that’s the paradox of Minnowburn which has changed little over the years and still holds a rural charm.

Runners who complete 5 out of 6 races will receive a commemorative t-shirt – (NEW DESIGN TBC). Runners who complete all 6 races will receive a bonus medal at the Race Finale in Castlewellan on Saturday 15th February 2025.
Enter Minnowburn Online before 11pm on 23rd October 2024 as ALL RACE PACKS WILL BE POSTED to participants. PLEASE NOTE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION YOU WILL NEED TO CHOOSE EITHER NI (£3) OR Rep of Ireland (£4) POSTAL OPTION.

What are the start times for each race?
11.00am (The 5K will start shortly after the 10K race).
Can I register for the event on the day?
Online entry only unless we do not sell out. If we don’t sell out online there may be some on-the-day entries available. We charge an additional £5 on race day to cover admin costs. Entry fee will therefore be £32 and £25 for juniors. There will be a limited Registration service on Race Day and will be for the collection of merchandise purchased online and any race queries. Registration will be located under the viewing stand at the Mary Peters Track, close to the start/finish line and will be clearly signposted on race day.
What time is the event registration?
Not applicable at this event as all Race Bibs will be posted prior to the event so runners will be ready to head straight to the start line. Your Race Bib should arrive with you no later than Wednesday 31st October. If your pack has not arrived by this date please advise us by email (info@born2runevents.com) so we can arrange a replacement. Please allow plenty of time to reach the event venue.
When will I receive my registration confirmation?
Confirmation of your race entry will be sent to you automatically via email from Enthuse Events after your payment is made. All race packs will be posted out to participants by 31st October 2024. Any Merchandise ordered at time of entry will be available for collection on Race Day at the Merchandise Desk in the Registration Marquee. A Final Race Day Information email, will be sent to all registered participants on Thursday before the race, please check your junk mail in case it lands there.
If I can’t run can I get a refund or defer my race entry?
By entering the race you will be bound by the event disclaimer which you agreed to at time of registration. Refunds or transfer of entry to another event are not available once entry has been completed. You are however permitted to transfer your entry to a family member/friend by emailing: info@born2runevents.com. What are the parking facitities at this event?
Free parking in the grounds of the Mary Peter’s Track. Please car share where possible as spaces are limited. Once the car park is full it is the runners’ own responsibility to park outside the grounds.
What time is the prizegiving?
12 noon. 5K & 10K Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female Finishers. Category Prizes will only be awarded at the end of the Series to runners who completed 5 out of 6 races. Five quickest race results will be used to calculate winners.
What does my entry fee include?

Are pets allowed?
Sorry, no pets allowed.
Will there be water stations?
As this is a Winter race there will be no water station so please carry water with you if required.
Where are the toilets/shower facilities located?
Toilet facilities are available at the Athletics NI building (accessed from the outside), changing room at the Track Stand and Portaloos. There are shower facilities in the changing rooms at the Track.
What footwear should I bring?
The course is a mixture of tarmac and forest paths. Running shoes are suitable for all the terrain on the 5K &10K route.
Can I run with a buggy?
Due to the nature of this course, for health and safety purposes, it is not suitable for buggies.
